Serving Manhattan, Kansas and the Surrounding Communities
Welcome to MAMTA!
About
MAMTA (Manhattan Area Music Teachers Association) is an organization of professional music educators from Manhattan Kansas and the surrounding area that strives to advance the value of music study and music-making for our diverse community while supporting the professionalism of music teachers and the promotion of a high standard of music among its members.
MAMTA was established May 20, 1971. MAMTA is affiliated with the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and the Kansas Music Teachers Association (KMTA), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational association.
In 1876, Theodore Presser and 62 of his colleagues founded the Music Teachers National Association with the purpose of advancing the value of music study and music-making to society while supporting the careers and professionalism of teachers of music.
The Kansas Music Teachers Association is dedicated to helping each student experience the joy of music. Through its educational programs and activities, this organization will empower its members – teachers with high professional standards – to foster in students a lifelong commitment to music as patrons, performers, teachers, and hobbyists.
KMTA will also work in partnership with communities across Kansas to insure that music is an ongoing, vital part of the cultural life.
MAMTA has established a college scholarship for students of MAMTA members to continue studying music as a music major in an accredited college or university of their choice. Please click here to donate.
